Hasaacas Ladies qualified to the semi-finals of the CAF Women’s Champions League as winners of Group A following 2-2 draw against Egypt’s Wadi Degla in their last match on Thursday.
Degla started the game strongly and scored first goal by Jasmin Theresa, then Hasaacas came back in the game with a goal by Faustina Nyame. Noha Mamdouh then scored her second goal in the tournament from a free-kick to end the first half as 2-1.
After the break, Hasaacas tied the game with a goal by Veronica Appiah to end Degla’s hopes to qualify for the semifinal.
“I anticipated that we would encounter a very difficult match. I remember their coach told me that this was going to be a very good game, which meant that they have studied us. I respect the Egyptian team because they played a very tactical game, but my players had the experience and determination required to qualify,” Hasaacas ladies coach said Basigi said after the game.
“We did not start well in the first half. In the second half we tried to get hold of the ball and play. No matter how the opponent will have against my team, I always have a plan B”.
“I want to meet any of the teams of Group B. I’m ready for any of them, and I studied all of them”.
Wadi have bowed out of the tournament following the draw as Malabo Kings who drew 1-1 with AS Mande finished second in the group.
