W/R EPA boss transferred following Shama explosion

The Western Region Director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Dr George Diawuo, has been transferred.

This follows a major reshuffle announced in a letter signed by the Executive Director, Dr Henry Kwabena Kokofu.

The move is said to have been influenced by the weekend’s explosion at a quarry site at Anto Aboso in the Shama District.

The explosion claimed five lives with five others injured while about three are said to be missing.

The reshuffle sees the Central Region Director, Shan Fiagome, taking over responsibilities in the Western Region.

The Ashanti Region Director, Samuel Oteng, has been moved to Accra West in Amasamn while the Ahafo Region Director, Dr Jackson Adiyie, is moving to the Ashanti Region.

The Accra West Director, Mrs Sally Biney, moves to Accra East in Tema while Accra East Director Irene Opoku moves to the head office as Head of Operations.

Central Region will be overseen by Omanhene Kwaku Boateng, previously head of Ada.
