Samuel Nartey George to receive honorary award at Yango Mobility Digital Awards

The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, is set to receive an honorary award at the upcoming Yango Mobility Digital Awards in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Ghana’s digital transformation.

A team from Yango, a leading ride-hailing service provider, visited the minister to formally inform him of the award. The recognition highlights his efforts in promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital inclusion in Ghana’s tech ecosystem.

Yango has been at the forefront of advancing digital mobility and innovation in Ghana and beyond. The company’s Digital Mobility Awards celebrate excellence in the mobility sector, recognizing top-performing partners and drivers in Ghana and other African countries like Ethiopia.

Beyond ride-hailing, Yango has actively promoted entrepreneurship and technological innovation in Ghana. One notable initiative was the Accra Mobility Prediction Hackathon, organized in partnership with Zindi Africa, which brought together over 200 data science students and tech enthusiasts to develop solutions for mobility challenges in Accra.

Reacting to the award, Hon. Samuel Nartey George expressed appreciation to Yango for the recognition:

I am honoured to receive this award, which is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team at the Ministry. We will continue to work tirelessly to promote digital transformation and innovation in Ghana, and we look forward to collaborating with Yango and other stakeholders to achieve this goal.”

The Yango Mobility Digital Awards are set to take place soon, bringing together key stakeholders in Ghana’s mobility and technology sector to celebrate innovation and excellence.
