Burnley £8m bid for Waris rejected by Lorient

Majeed Waris could help Lorient stay in Ligue 1

English side Burnley’s £8m bid for Ghana’s Abdul Majeed Waris has been rejected by relegated French club Lorient.

Several clubs in Europe are interested in the Ghanaian but those attempts have failed due to presumed high asking price by Lorient.

The 25-year–old netted nine times in 35 appearances last season but couldn’t prevent Lorient from dropping out of Ligue 1.

Abdul Majeed Waris has won 22 caps for Ghana and has 4 goals to his credit since 2012.

Meanwhile, Burnley has not lost hopes in clinching the former Trabzonspor striker as manager Sean Dyche sees him as a competitor for their main forward Sam Vokes.

It is understood the club are exploring other options as they look to add a different option to their frontline.

Earlier this month, the Clarets offered €13m for Deportivo La Coruna’s Romanian international forward Florin Andone but he is likely to prove too expensive as Deportivo are demanding an original release clause of between €25 and €30m.
