Bunkpurugu clashes: One dead, 2 injured and 37 houses burnt

One person is reported dead in Bunkpurugu following a renewed chieftaincy clashes between the two feuding factions – Jafok and Jamong families.

Two persons have sustained gunshot injuries and are in critical conditions. Thirty-seven houses have been burnt, TV3’s Zubaida Ismail reported.

The gunshots were fired around the Jamong family house which is close to the Police barracks.

The cause of the Thursday clash is yet to be established as the Police has began investigation to establish the cause.

Meanwhile, anti-terrorist Unit of the Ghana Police Service has arrived in Tamale to proceed to Bunkpurugu to ensure the safety of residents and property.

The skin of paramountcy of Bunkpurugu has been the bone of contention over decades as the Jakof family claim the enskinment of Chief Abuba from the Jamong family was illegitimate hence the recurring conflict between the two families.
