Black Stars to play Switzerland in pre-World Cup friendly in November

The Ghana Football Association has announced that the Black Stars will play a pre-World Cup friendly against Switzerland.

The warm-up game will take place at the Baniyas Club Stadium in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Thursday, November 17, 2022. The Black Stars will face Portugal in their first World Cup match seven days later.

The friendly will be an important opportunity for coach Otto Addo to test his tactics against a European opponent ahead of the Portugal clash.

Switzerland, who qualified for the World Cup as well, have agreed to play Ghana because their first match in Qatar is against Cameroon, a team with a similar profile to the Black Stars.

The friendly will mark the end of the Black Stars’ preparations for the tournament.

The Black Stars’ next game is against South Korea on November 28 before concluding their group stage campaign against Uruguay on December 2.

Ghana hope to reach the semi-finals for the first time after coming close in 2010.
