Black Stars arrive in Qatar for World Cup in traditional smock

Black Stars took the Ghanaian tradition to the rest of the world as they arrived in Qatar for the World Cup with each member of the squad donning a traditional smock.

The four-time African champions landed in Qatar on Friday evening, a day after their morale-boosting 2-0 win against Switzerland in a pre-World Cup friendly match played in Abu Dhabi.

Rather than the usual suits and cardigans, the West African decided to travel to Qatar in locally produced but valuable clothing.

They posed for pictures as a show of pride in showcasing their uniqueness in comparison to previous years.

After safely arriving, Ghana will now focus on preparing to face Portugal next Thursday, November 24 at 4 p.m. local time at Stadium 974 in Doha.

Their opponents defeated Nigeria’s Super Eagles 4-0 in their final pre-World Cup friendly on Thursday night.

The Black Stars will also face South Korea in their second group game on Monday, November 28  at the Education City Stadium, before concluding their group campaign against Uruguay on December 2 at the Al Janoub Stadium.
