After just one term in Parliament, Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour Relations Alhaji Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed has lost his Akwatia Constituency seat to New Patriotic Party’s Mercy Adu-Gyamfi also known as Ama Sey.
The 47-year-old lawyer beat NPP’s Dr Kofi Asare in 2012 to win the seat at his fourth attempt.
On Thursday, December 8, TV3‘s Yvonne Neequaye reported that Mr Jamal polled 16,925 votes, which were not enough to retain him the seat.
His closest contender, Ama Sey, polled 21,436 to reclaim the seat for the NPP.
Convention People’s Party’s Joyce Sakyi placed third.
