Avram Grant is a teacher – Asamoah Gyan

Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has described Coach Avram Grant as a teacher who has what it takes to motivate his players.

The four-time champions kick-started their campaign with a 1-0 victory against the Cranes of Uganda on Tuesday courtesy a Dede Ayew penalty.

The Black Stars lost the final on penalties to Ivory Coast two years ago, denying them a first title since 1982.

The Israeli coach, who is looking to improve upon his first outing with the team two years ago, wants his players to be in the moment at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations and not be distracted by the past.

Asamoah Gyan believes Avram Grant has the right mentality to take the Stars all the way.

“We started working with him two years ago and everybody knows who Avram is and although coach I call him a teacher.

“He is somebody who tries to motivate his players with the legends in different sports so believes we can learn how they got there”.

He went on to praise his coach and commended him for his motivation methods which he believes motivates his players

“We feel motivated anytime we are with him watching the videos and he is a very jovial man and I can say one of the funniest men I have ever met”.
