Ato Ahwoi secures short code for Mahama 2020 fundraising

An official short code and a mobile money number have been secured by two support groups for the John Mahama 2020 Campaign.

The number and the code are to enable contributors support former President John Dramani Mahama raise the GH¢400,000 filing fee for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential primary next year.

The move is being steered by the Committee for Mahama Election Two (COMET), which is chaired by Ato Ahwoi, and MPS4MAHAMA.

“COMET assures the general public of the highest levels of accountability and judicious utilization of proceeds realized,” a statement signed and issued by Mr Ahwoi on Monday, December 3 said.

Though most of the contributors are expected to send in GH¢1,000 each, the statement said: “We also wish to stress that any amount is welcome and no amount will be deemed too small”.

Presidential aspirants are expected to pick forms on Monday and Tuesday, December 4 at GH¢20,000 after which it will be filed at GH¢400,000.
