Ashanti NDC march in support of Mahama

Hundreds of supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) have embarked upon a procession in the Ashanti Region capital of Kumasi to lend support to President John Dramani Mahama.

Organised by the Organised Youth of Ashanti (OYA), the procession is aimed at highlighting the achievements of President Mahama, especially in the Ashanti Region.

It is also an assurance to garner one million votes for NDC’s Leader in the 2016 elections.

Tuesday’s march saw supporters wielding placards that showed some of the projects embarked upon by the government in the Region.

Among them are pictures of the district hospital in Fomena, the community day school in New Edubiase and a military hospital in the Region.

The Ashanti Region branch of the ruling party is said to have been rocked with internal wrangling, which came to a head last week when some foot soldiers locked up the headoffice, it is perceived.

The situation is said to have informed the recent decision by President Mahama to remove the regional minister and his deputy from office.

But speaking to our Ashanti Region, Brogya Gyamfi, the regional youth organiser, said the party is united and Tuesday’s gesture is to tell all about the ‘Better Ghana Agenda’ under President Mahama.

“For the eight-year rule of the NPP, we never saw a single district hospital in this region but as we speak today we are witnessing six different district hospitals in the region,” Mr Gyamfi told TV3s’ William Evans Nkum.
