Asamoah Gyan’s birthday has sparked celebrations on November 22 as the striker turns 36 years old.
Often touted as one of the best Ghanaian footballers ever, football lovers and Ghanaians have taken to social media to celebrate Asamoah Gyan’s birthday on Monday.
Gyan sparked celebrations by sharing nice photos of himself with the caption, “I am happy to live till this day, it is an occasion worth celebrating. On this day, I wish myself a life filled to the brim with happiness, health and prosperity. Happy birthday to me.”
The former Ghana skipper is one of the most recognised sporting personalities from Africa and is considered to be very popular.
He is currently unattached to any club and trains personally to stay fit and ready for the next assignment.
Gyan’s professional career started in 2003 and after 18 years, he has achieved so much.
He is Ghana’s record goalscorer with 51 goals in a record 109 appearances for the senior national team.
No African player has scored more goals in the history of the World Cup. He scored Ghana’s first goal at the global showpiece and is now on six goals.
Gyan is the first player to score in nine consecutive tournaments. Ronaldo became the second after equalling the impressive record this year during Euros.
In 2010, he was crowned BBC African footballer of the year and is the first player to win three consecutive top scorer awards in the United Arab Emirates.
