Arteta hails Partey’s performance against Rapid Vienna

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says there is more to come from his new Ghana signing Thomas Partey after his outstanding full debut for the Gunners in their 2-1 win at Rapid Vienna in the Europa League on Thursday.

The Black Stars main man, a £45-million signing on transfer deadline day from Atletico Madrid, ran the show for Arsenal, winning tackles, setting off attacks and generally dominating in midfield.

The performance led to comparisons with Arsenal great Patrick Vieira and while boss Mikel Arteta didn’t go to that extent, he says he enjoyed watching his new acquisition.

“He held the midfield by himself in the second half. I think he was fantastic tonight and there is much more to come from him obviously.”
