The 22 circuit court judges named in a petition submitted to the Chief Justice by Tiger Eye Productions have been suspended, a statement from the Judicial Council says.

The 22 together with 12 high court judges have been captured in a video by Tiger Eye Productions engaging in underhand dealings said to compromise the delivery of justice.

Chief Executive Officer of Tiger Eye Productions Anas Aremeyaw Anas on Monday, August 31 submitted two petitions to the Chief Justice, Georgina Theodora Wood, over the action of the judges, the statement on Wednesday, September 9 noted.

A five-member committee was, therefore, set up on Wednesday, September 2 to look into the video.

As per recommendations of the committee set up at the instance of Ms Wood, the circuit court judges have been suspended and the fate of the 12 justices of the superior court will be determined within 48 hours.

The 12 judges have been asked to respond to the findings made against them.

The findings of the disciplinary committee also cited more than 100 court officials in the scandal, a video of which is set to premiere at the Accra International Conference Center on Tuesday, September 22.

According to the statement signed by Justice Alex Opoku Acheampong, the General Secretary of the Council, “no one will be spared appropriate sanction where culpability is established”.
