The report stated that as the SPD officer approached and observed the entire process, the driver “attempted to switch places with his dog who was in the passenger seat.”
The male party then claimed he wasn't driving when he got out of the passenger side of the car.
The man was stopped by police at around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2023, for allegedly driving 52 mph in a 30-mph zone, according to a Facebook post by the Springfield Police Department.
He was apprehended about 20 yards from the vehicle, police said.
