All set for Mentor grand finale

December 27, 2020

The grand finale of this year’s popular music reality show Mentor is scheduled to be held tonight, Sunday, December 27, at TV3’s Studio B.

Six contestants will battle it out for the ultimate prize of a brand new car. The winner will also receive GH¢10,000 in cash, GH¢50,000 worth of airtime across all Media General platforms and have 2 mastered songs recorded.

The finalists are Kwaku Bany and Hyndu, who were selected from the South Western Zone led by songstress Adina, Ayeyi and Semenhyia, who were selected from South Eastern Zone led by Appietus, Netty from the Northern Zone led by rapper Edem and Lyte, who is the only contestant standing from the Central Zone selected by veteran musician Bessa Simons.

The competition started with 16 contestants in all but 10 were evicted. Lyte and Semenhyia are among the finalists who had a second lifeline after being voted back despite being evicted.

General Manager of MG Television Francis Doku is excited about the finals on Sunday.

“It has been exacting, but very interesting thirteen weeks of live television production with these young talents who gave off their best with great performances every single week and we are happy that one of them would have his or her efforts crowned on Sunday,” said Mr Doku.

“It is unfortunate that 10 out of the 16 of them fell off along the way, in keeping with the rules of eviction for the show.

“However, we do not take for granted the value each one of them brought to the show and what they took from it as lessons to enhance their chosen craft or musicianship.

“We believe that all of them are winners, regardless of who is adjudged winner on Sunday.”

Billed to perform at the final will be award-winning duo Keche and Optional King. Winner of last year’s edition.

This year’s edition had the good old Dominic Ansah, Rocky Dawuni and Reggie Rockstone passing through as guest judges.

The 2020 Mentor is dubbed ‘Own The Stage’.

The final will be held strictly under Covid-19 protocols as attendance will be by invitation.
