Alan is no different from Bawumia – Sam George

Member of for Sam Nartey George has launched a scathing on former Minister of Trade and Industry Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen following his resignation from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He said Mr Kyerematen is as guilty as Vice President when it comes to the “colossal” failure of the current government in managing the .

“Alan Kyerematen sat in this failing government for seven years,” said on the sidelines of an engagement with constituents of Odododiodoo ahead of Tuesday's #OccupyBoGProtest.

“He is not different from them. Alan Kyerematen oversaw the failure of the . He is no different from Bawumia. The value is the same.

“So, whether he is a mammoth butterfly or whatever it is…you should ask yourself, the elephant is a destructive animal, the butterfly, very colourful butterflies, if you talk to entomologists, they will tell you, they are very poisonous.

“The colour they have is deterrent to predators.”

The NDC lawmaker was reacting to the announcement by Mr Kyerematen right after his resignation that he would contest the 2024 elections as an independent candidate.

The former NPP member announced the start of a movement, Movement for Change, to rally support for his bid.

At a press conference on Monday, September 25, Mr Kyerematen named the monarch butterfly as his symbol with ‘ Will Rise Again' as the brand motto.

“The new Movement will be led and powered by the youth of Ghana,” he stated.

But Sam George insisted: “So whether it is the destructive Bawumia elephant or or whether it is the poisonous butterfly Alan Kyerematen the value is the same.

“Ghana is in a crisis.”
