Egyptian side Al Ahly have announced that they have parted ways with South African tactician Pitso Mosimane after a meeting between the coach and management took place.
The decision came on the back of their 2-0 defeat to Wydad Athletic Club in the CAF Champions League final on 30th May, 2022.
It was the coach’s first defeat in a CAF Champions League knockout game with Al Ahly after lifting back-to-back trophies with the club in the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons.
The club have confirmed that despite management’s insistence for Pitso to stay, the tactician had his eyes set on an exit. Hence, he will no longer lead the team in subsequent seasons.
Mosimane has won three CAF Champions League trophies in his career so far, one at Mamelodi Sundowns and two at Al Ahly.
