Akufo-Addo to be sworn in inside Parliament

December 23, 2020

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will be sworn into office in Parliament and not from the usual venue, the Independence Square in Accra, a Deputy Minister of Information, Pius Enam Hadzide has revealed.

The decision, according to Mr Hadzideh was taken by the Transition Team after a request was made  by Parliament to that effect.

He revealed this at a press conference in Accra on Wednesday December 23.

He said “The Transition Team has favourably considered the request of the Parliament of Ghana, as stated by Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu and has hence decided that the swearing-in of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on the 7th of January 2021, shall happen before Parliament and within the precincts of Parliament”.
