President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reinstated Ms Mary Boatemaa Marfo as the Chief Executive of the Sekyere East District of the Ashanti Region. Last week, President Akufo-Addo revoked her appointment. It is believed that the decision was influenced by a tape said to have been leaked by the DCE’s aid in which the appointee is said to be advocating skirt and blouse in the December 7 elections for Sekyere East. Investigations by Akoma FM traced the source of the leaked tape to one Owusu Nkrumah, an aid to Mary Boatemaa. “Yes I am the source of the leaked tape,” Owusu admitted on the Kumasi-based radio station’s morning show, GhanAkoma on Tuesday, September 22. “I recorded and leaked the tape because Madam Mary Boatemaa whom I’ve served for several years has not been treating me fairly.” The host, Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin, quizzed him on the motive for recording the DCE. “I asked her whom we should vote for because I wanted to know my stance and where to cast my vote but after several considerations I let out the cat from the bag because she has not been good to me,” he responded. Following this development, a new DCE Mr Kwame Adom-Appiah was nominated for the post. But a letter dated 24th September 2020 and signed by Kwesi Boateng Adjei, a Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, said the president has rescinded his decision to revoke the appointment of Ms Boatemaa Marfo. “I have to inform you that His Excellency the President has rescinded his decision to revoke the appointment of Hon Mary Beatrice Marfo as District Chief Executive of Sekyere East District Assembly.  Any inconvenience caused is deeply is deeply regretted. I anticipate your usual cooperation in this matter,” the letter said. By Laud Nartey|3news.com|Ghana]]>
