President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has left Accra for a day’s official visit to Qatar, the presidency has said.
President Akufo-Addo is embarking on the trip at the invitation of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
It is in reciprocation to an invitation which resulted in a trip to Ghana in December, 2017 by the Golf state’s leader.
The visit is aimed at deepening and strengthening the ties that exist between the two countries, the presidency indicated.
It is as well to explore other areas of co-operation for their mutual benefit.
President Akufo-Addo is accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, and some officials from her ministry.
The delegation will return on Tuesday.
In the absence of the president, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia shall, in accordance with Article 60(8) of the Constitution, act in his stead.
