President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is in the Upper East Region for a working visit.
President Akufo-Addo travelled to the Region on Sunday, June 20 and expected to be there the whole of Monday, June 21 as well.
The visit comes on the heels of the just-ended 59th Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of Ecowas.
The summit concentrated on the terrorist threats in the West African sub-region.
Before the summit, the Ghana Police Service issued a terrorism alert to its command in the Upper East Region, hinting of the infiltration of the Region by suspected terrorists from neighbouring Burkina Faso.
“Bandits suspected to be in possession of military grade weapons may have already infiltrated Ghana at yet-to-be identified locations in the northern regions and they are poised to launch the attacks any moment from now,” a wireless message stated.
