Ajet-Nasam, 2 other high court judges dismissed by Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has ordered the removal from office of three high court judges including Justice John Ajet-Nasam, who is widely known to have adjudicated the Woyome case.

The decision to dismiss the three judges followed recommendations of a five-member committee set up to investigate allegations contained in petitions, one of which was filed by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

A release on Tuesday, January 19 said Justice Ajet-Nasam and Justice Ernest Obimpeh were dismissed on grounds of stated misbehavior.

The third judge, Justice Ringo Cass Akurugu Azumah, was however dismissed on grounds of stated misbehavior and incompetence.

“Several complaints of absenteeism were filed against the judge by users of the court and a leading legal firm.”

Justices Ajet-Nasam and Obimpeh were among the 12 high court judges subjected to investigations after Anas’ revelation.

The investigative committee is said to have recommended their sacking as per Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution.
