AG, Transport Minister sued over GH¢3.6m MMT rebranding deal

The Minister of Transport, Dzifa Aku Attivor, and her counterpart at the Justice Ministry, Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, have been sued at the Accra High Court by some private citizens.

The citizens – one of whom is Francis Kennedy Ocloo – are praying the court to order the Transport Minister to furnish them with copies of the contract of rebranding 116 metro mass transit buses.

The rebranding exercise has caused public uproar after it emerged that GH¢3.6 million was expended.

Government swiftly reacted to the reports on the cost by ordering the Attorney General to conduct a review into the contract.

But before government’s December 22 deadline to the AG expires, the private citizens want the High Court to order the Transport Minister “to make full disclosure on the contract for the branding of the 116 Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) buses,” among other reliefs.
