Empoli’s combative midfielder Afriyie Acquah has been handed a starting role by Black Stars coach James Kwesi Appiah in the last Round of 16 game at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.
The Stars are taking on the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia in a match to be played at the Ismailia Stadium.
With both sides yet to lose a game in the tournament, the match promises to be exciting, especially following a north-and-west rivalry that has become a common fixture in the tournament.
Ghana coach Appiah has his centre backs back together again after they both served different suspensions. John Boye was red-carded in Ghana’s 2-2 draw with Benin in the first game and Kasim Nuhu was suspended ahead of the 2-0 win over Guinea-Bissau as a result of the two Yellow Cards he picked from the first two games.
Two-goal Jordan Ayew and his brother, Andre, who is Ghana’s leading scorer in the history of the Cup of Nations, maintain their starting positions.
So have Spain-based Thomas Partey and Serbia-based Samuel Owusu, who appears to be coming under criticism for growing missed chances.
The match starts at exactly 1900GMT.
