Abednego Tetteh nearly quit football after Hearts of Oak spell


Bibiani Stars striker Abednego Tetteh has opened up about his struggles after failing to meet expectations at , which nearly led him to retire from .

The former man signed a three-year contract with Hearts of Oak in May 2020, but he failed to make an impact and was released in August 2021.

“I almost gave up on football due to the challenges I faced during my time with ,” Abednego revealed in an interview with Original FM.

He further stated, “Considering a return to Accra Hearts of Oak would be very difficult for me.”

Despite his disappointing spell with the Phobians, the 33-year-old Abednego left with two medals, having contributed to their success in winning the and the despite making only five appearances.

He signed a two-year contract with Kumasi-based in August 2022, after a year on the sidelines. He scored two goals in ten games for the team during the first half of the current season before both parties agreed to terminate his contract.

Tetteh signed with the Bibiani-based side in January, and since joining the team, he has been in sensational form for the Golden Boys.

Currently, he leads the scorers' chart with an impressive tally of 16 goals in 18 games across all competitions.
