Ghana has not been stripped off the hosting right of the 2018 African Women Cup of Nation (AWCON), by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), contrary to media reports that, the hosting right has been taken away from Ghana.
A highly placed source at the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS), told the GNA Sports, the outfit has not received any letter from CAF on the matter, hence the reports must be disregarded.
According to the source, Ghana was focused on preparing for the 11th edition of the biennial international championship slated for November 17 to December 1, 2018.
The Local Organizing Committee (LOC), is busily preparing for the tournament, with renovation works at the various stadia, as well as training pitches earmarked for the tournament.
It would be recalled that the Kumasi and Tamale sports stadium had been set as a back-up venues, should they fail to meet deadline for the renovation works at the Accra Sports Stadium.
