A team of 3FM’s mid-morning programme Urban Blend led by host Miriam Osei Agyemang on Thursday surprised veteran actor Fred Amugi, who recently turned 72, at his residence in Dansoman, Accra.
The team with the support of Starbite Foods presented healthy gift items including Seafood, cake, some natural fruit juice and invitation to a Karaoke session at the Nesta Square branch of Starbite at the Airport City.
Sharing his thought on consistency in his chosen career, Fred Amugi stated that “if you love doing something, anytime you put your heart to it, it just comes up just like petrol and fire”.
He added that discipline, humility and the fear of God had brought him this far.
“If you fear God, you are humble and you have a kind of discipline for what you do, you will surely rise to the top,” he admonished.
“There is no rush in life, when God calls you, he calls you at his own time, so if you force to call yourself at your time you will always fail. So the best thing is to always wait on the Lord no matter what.”
He emphasized on the need to “always tell God you know where I want to get to, lead me”.
“It’s as simple as that,” he reiterated.
Fred Amugi, before becoming a household name, was into drama and documentaries in the 1970s until 1985 when he starred in his first movie Opinto.
According to him, it was the television series that brought him into the limelight.
He has since been in movies including Beast of No Nation, The Cursed Ones and Aloevera.
