The Urban Blend on 3FM pulled a surprise on legendary hi-life musician Pat Thomas on his birthday on Friday, August 14.
The music icon was guest on the Spotlight segment on the mid-morning show with host Miriam Osei-Agyeman.
While narrating some memorable incidents of his career, young and budding artiste Kwami Eugene stormed the studio to wish him a happy birthday.
The second shock for Pat Thomas came when the mid-morning team walked into the studio with a cute cake to mark his 74th birthday celebration, leaving the musician in utter shock and amazement.
With over three decades in the music industry, Pat Thomas has lived up to his nickname as ‘The Golden Voice of West Africa’ with five albums, major hit singles and countless awards to his credit.
Speaking during the interview, he described his time in Berlin as a major highlight in his music career since it opened him up to the international audience and musical influences.
When quizzed about the musical career of his daughter Nana Yaa, he said he never anticipated that she would pursue music and was quite surprised to learn that his daughter was following his footsteps.
He revealed, however, that he regrets not spending enough time with her in order to impact on her singing prowess.
Pat Thomas is currently promoting his single ‘Speed up’ (Time no dey) which features awarding winning hiplife artiste Fameye.
