3FM and the Twellium Foundation on Monday, October 5 launched the ‘3FM One for Breast Cancer’ campaign on the Sunrise morning show.
The head of the campaign, Dr Josephine Awotwe Quarcoo, stated that “ignorance was worsening the problem that’s associated with breast cancer. There is a cure for breast cancer when diagnosed early”.
The campaign is a month long but would take key focus from Monday, October 12 to Friday, October 16.
The campaign seeks to educate listeners and society about breast cancer while organizing free screening and health walks.
Event Manager at Media General Jacklin Belba Smith said “3FM is partnering with Twellium and we are going to have a month-long education campaign and screening”.
“We are going to screen over 1,500 men and women for free. We want to make people aware. We are going to ensure that we are exposing as many people as possible to what they need to do.”
Dr Awotwe Quarcoo also advised men and women to pay greater attention to their breasts.
Breast cancer is the most frequent cancer amongst women.
Over 2 million women each year suffer breast cancer globally.
