On June 26, the Accra Regional Police Command had a tip-off that a gang of young men were defrauding some individuals at Dome, a suburb of Accra.
Acting upon the tip-off, the police dispatched a team of officers and managed to arrest three of the suspects operating with a laptop computer.
The suspects upon interrogation, admitted ownership of the forged documents with the names of some state institutions, which are used to defraud individuals on the internet.
ACP Timothy Yorsa Bonga, Deputy Accra Regional Police Commander appealed to the public to report suspicious characters at odd hours to the police.
” The general public is advised to call police emergency lines when they see suspicious characters in their vicinities at odd hours and not leave anything to chance. In this particular case, some residents spotted the vehicle the suspects were using but failed to call the police”.
In a related development, two young men have also been arrested for robbing a couple in their residence at Fise near Amasaman also in Accra.
The suspected robbers with the stolen items
According to the police, the robbers who numbered about six during the raid, armed with machete broke into the victims’ door with cement blocks.
They tied the husband and succeeded in robbing them of one standing air conditioner, flat screen television, three mobile phones, three laptop computers and a sum of two hundred cedis.
