2018 FIFA U-20 WWCQ: Princesses clinch 1-1 draw in Cameroon

A Priscilla Adubea equalizer in the second half cancelled Cameroon’s 1-0 lead in the first half to give Ghana’s Black Princesses a 1-1 away draw in the first leg of the final qualifier for the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Alexandra Engolo had given the home crowd joy inside Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaounde when she opened the score.

She connected to a free kick inside the Princesses’ area in the first half to send the entire stadium into raptures.

But Adubea’s goal seven minutes after the break gave the Ghanaians a vital advantage given the premium on the away goals rule, in case of a tie.

She, thus, increases her tally in the qualifiers to 9 goals, making her the leading scorer in the qualifiers, on the continent.

The second leg is scheduled to be played on Friday, January 26 at the Cape Coast Stadium.

Meanwhile, Nigeria clinched a vital 2-0 away win over South Africa to put be in a pole position of booking a ticket to France.

The South Africans will travel to Nigeria on Saturday, January 27 for the last qualifier in Africa.
