2 Best Teachers who got ¢5 airtime as prize now given ¢3,000 package by EPP

January 29, 2019

Two teachers at the Banda Ahenkro Methodist Basic School in the Brong Ahafo Region who received five cedis for emerging as the best teachers in the school, have now received what could be deemed as their biggest prize package.

EPP Books Services, one of the largest and leading book distributors in West Africa, on Monday donated items worth over 3,000 cedis to the two teachers.

Each of them received a mobile phone, some teaching manuals and an undisclosed amount of money.

The two teachers had earlier been rewarded each five cedis worth of airtime for emerging the overall best teachers in the school.

  • Best teacher gets GH₵5 airtime prize package

The award scheme was instituted by the Chairman of the Parents-Teacher Association (PTA) of the school to honour teachers who excelled in their work.

Two other colleagues who came as runners-up were also given two cedis airtime each as their prize packages.

Explaining the rationale behind the gesture, the marketing manager at EPP Legon branch, Alberta Sanful, said the organisation appreciated the efforts of teachers in helping build a strong and wealthy nation through the impact of knowledge to children.

She said teachers play vital roles in the lives of the students in their classrooms such as educating the students that are placed in their care, mentor and nurture students to become role models.

“Therefore as an institution that is into education through the selling of books, we decided to contribute our quota as part of our corporate social responsibility to celebrate the teachers in our own small way”, Miss Alberta added.

She also advised teachers across the country to continue to give their best wherever they found themselves “and their efforts will surely be recognised”.

Speaking on behalf of the teachers, Mr Christopher Appiah, one of the award winning teachers lauded the effort of EPP Books Services adding that the reward will go a long way in helping impact knowledge in school.“We are shocked and at the same time happy. This support is enormous and I can’t tell you how grateful we are”, he said.

Mr Appiah also urged teachers across the country to continue to give their best in other to build a strong nation.
