The Ghana Scholarship Secretariat in partnership with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture is sponsoring 2018 National Best farmers in a week-long training tour to Casablanca, Morocco.
The programme is aimed at enhancing the capacity of participating farmers and also engaging them to modern forms of farming as well as business opportunities and collaboration.
The awardees are expected to engage in series of activities including visit farms and factories.
In an interview, the National Coordinator at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Philip Osei Nkrumah, said the programme demonstrates government commitment to build the capacity of farmers.
He stressed: “It was the vision of government to transform the country’s agric sector and improve human resources.”
The National Best Cocoa Farmer, Charles Gyamfi, was optimist that the training would better equip them to be more competitive.
The Ghanaian Ambassador to Morocco, Stephen M.D Yakubu, recounted the tremendous benefit farmers would derive from the strong and close relations with their Moroccan counterparts.
