The president’s nominee for Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly, Rex Asanga, has secured 100 percent in votes cast by the 39 Assembly members, making him the first chief executive to be confirmed in the Upper East Region.

The 39 Assembly members, 27 elected and 12 appointed, voted on Thursday, September 30 to confirm the nominee.

In his victory and acceptance speech, Rex Asanga thanked President Nana Akufo-Addo for the confidence he has for him and he pledged to work hard for the total development of the Assembly.

He thanked the Assembly members for their maturity in confirming him as the new MCE.

Before the voting, the Upper East Region Minister, Stephen Yakubu, reminded all gathered at the venue of their developmental responsibility and said any delay to get the MCE will affect business of the house.

He, therefore, appealed to them to confirm Rex Asanga, who will steer the affairs of the Assembly, irrespective of their affiliations.

The outgoing MCE, Joseph Amiyuure, also congratulated the President’s nominee and urged the Assembly members to give his successor a one-touch confirmation.
