The attacke led to the death of a police officer, Lance Corporal Nicholas Duku.
Western Regional Police PRO, DSP Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, giving the details of the case to 3news.com, said the deceased was on escort duties with the Managing Director, Rujanda Sind, who was sending some money from their Tarkwa office to their Bogoso office.
“At the office, after waiting for sometime, the MD was not coming so he (Lance Corporal Duku) decided to go and investigate.
“He realized there was an armed robbery attack ongoing and so he took cover to help the company’s security personnel but he was shot at and followed again and killed.
“It seems there was communication ongoing between the armed robbers and some one from outside the building because he was attacked on his blind side,” DSP Olivia Ewurabena Adiku narrated.
The robbers made away with GH¢ 900,000 and abandoned their vehicle, a Nissan Rogue with registration number GE 411-16. The vehicle was later found at Prestea Huni Valley District.
