Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, Ras Mubarak, has denied media reports that he has married a second wife. News emerged Sunday, February 4 that the National Democratic Congress MP has married the daughter of colleague MP for Asawase, Muntaka Mubarak, as his second wife, in Kumasi in line with Islamic custom. But Ras Mubarak on Monday posted on Facebook that though he’s a true believer in polygamy as encouraged by his religion and culture, it is not correct for anyone to report that he has taken a second wife. He explained his first wife packed out of their matrimonial home weeks to the 2016 general elections and subsequently filed divorce processes, hence his new wife, Mrs. Huseina Mubarak, is “my new and only wife”. “Let me put it on record that – though I am unapologetically a believer in polygamy and my religion, and my proud Dagbon tradition and culture permit polygamy, I just remarried yesterday after my wife then, packed out and sued for divorce a few weeks before the 2016 election,” Ras Mubarak explained in the Facebook post. The former reggae radio presenter underscored the need for the media to always “report what is factual”. Meanwhile, he has expressed gratitude to his colleague MPs, family and friends and all those who graced their wedding ceremony and supported them in diverse ways. “May God bless us all and strengthen every marriage,” he concluded.
