President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo left Accra on Thursday for New Delhi, India for the International Solar Alliance (ISA) summit. The president is attending the summit at the invitation of India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron. The summit, which also is being attended by 25 other heads of state, will provide a dedicated platform for co-operation amongst solar resourced rich countries. It will be aimed at realising the common goals of increasing the use of solar energy in meeting the energy needs of ISA member countries in a safe, convenient, affordable, equitable and sustainable manner. The summit will result in the signing of a ‘New Delhi Declaration’, which will prioritise solar energy and, thereby, ensuring power for all. A statement from the presidency on Thursday said President Akufo-Addo will hold bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Modi while in India. The discussions are “expected to deepen the existing, cordial relations between Ghana and India, and will also present the two countries with an opportunity to define new areas of co-operation that would serve their mutual interests”. The president will return to Ghana on Monday, March 12. In his absence, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia shall act in accordance with Article 60(8) of the Constitution. Source: 3news.com|Ghana ]]>
