AMA gets Huawei support to make Accra smart city

Leading global information and communications provider Huawei Technologies has presented five laptops and 40 pieces of 10-inch tablets to the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA). The items worth about GH¢100,000 is to support the AMA to implement its goal of making Accra a smart city. Receiving the items on behalf of the Assembly on Friday, the Chief Executive Officer of AMA, Mohammed Adjei Sowah, thanked Huawei for the donation and promised that  the items would be put to good use. He said the AMA is working towards ensuring a smart Accra and was hopeful that the gesture would go a long way to support the agenda, adding that more pragmatic ways of incorporating technology into the city were being introduced to ensure that the  vision becomes a reality. Director for Enterprise Business of Huawei Technologies Ghana Geoffrey Li, who presented  the items, said that Accra is the hometown of Huawei in Ghana and said  it was a pleasure to support the AMA with their latest ICT products. He said Huawei Technologies is a responsible corporate citizen that is committed to contributing significantly to the development of the communities and people in the regions where it operates. “With 180,000 employees, Huawei is committed to enabling the future information society, and building a Better Connected World,” he said. He added that technology can do a lot to ensure AMA has better working tools to benefit the people of Accra.
