Tagoe defends IBO lightweight title with TKO over Saucedo

Ghanaian boxer Emmanuel ‘The Game Boy’ Tagoe successfully defended his IBO Lightweight title after technically knocking out his Argentine opponent, Fernando Saucedo. In a bout full of showboating in the ring by the Ghanaian and several complaints by the South American, experienced referee Roger Barnor stopped hostilities in Round 10, much to the surprise of patrons. Tagoe had hit the back of Saucedo’s head in what many considered illegal in the noble sport of self defence. It was at least the third time Tagoe’s punch had landed there, triggering complaints from Saucedo’s corner men after the first round. But all did not count as Barnor stopped the fight in Round 10 though Saucedo showed all signs he was ready to continue the bout. Tagoe later justified his antics, saying he did not want to literally kill his opponent in the ring. According to him, the antics daze even the best boxers to look like amateurs. For him, things would have been worse for the Argentine if the bout had gone its full haul. The Argentine expressed gratitude to Baby Jet Promotions for the bout but complained about the illegal punches of the Ghanaian.
