Kurt Okraku rejects GFA presidency talks

The Ghana FA President’s position will be up for grabs next year with Kwesi Nyantakyi set to step down from his role and some football administrators are ready to battle against one another in the elections. One man certainly in the mix is Kurt Okraku, highly respected by colleagues and enjoying positive reviews by football fans for his part in developing football in the country and leading the club he’s chairman of, Dreams FC, to a second promotion to the Ghana top flight in three seasons. The FA president position is an enviable one for many football administrators in Ghana but for Okraku, he will remain distant from the role until an appropriate time. “It’s always in the public domain that president Kwesi Nyantakyi will not continue or will not want to seek for a re-election,” said the Dreams FC Chief Executive Officer in an interview with TV3. “I am a member of the board of the Football Association; he sits on the board as the board chairman. He’s never told us that he’s never going to seek re-election. So long as he stays in the office, I will offer him my undiluted support until the time that he is no longer available then we can fully discuss a vacancy. “Currently there is no vacancy; there is no point in wasting our time. We gave Kwesi Nyantakyi the presidency for four-year tenure; he has two more years we have to support him,” he appended. The appropriate time may be close with campaign for the 2019 elections beginning in earnest this year.
