Ghana Premier League side Asante Kotoko had to wait till injury time to score the only goal in their CAF Confederation Cup qualification game against Congo’s CARA Brazzaville on Sunday. The goal came from the fifth penalty of the game at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. Substitute Yakubu Mohammed converted to win back the hearts of the teeming fans, who had hitherto lost hope in the side for failure to convert three penalties. The match was the first leg encounter of the preliminary round of qualification. Saddick Adams, Amos Frimpong and Baba Mahama had missed all previous penalties that came the way of the hosts. This made Congolese goalkeeper Chansel Massa an instant hero in the game. But that was shortlived and, perhaps, moved to Kotoko’s goalkeeper, Felix Annan, who saved a penalty that came the way of the visitors – moments later – and taken by Massa. Mohammed broke the deadlock in injury time after he converted the fifth penalty of the game. The second leg is scheduled to be played on Wednesday, February 21 in Brazzaville. The winner will play Tunisia’s US Ben Guerdane in the next round of the qualifiers. By Emmanuel Kwame Amoh|3news.com|Ghana ]]>
