Former Black Princesses star Janet Ayeyam is confident the team can breakthrough in their 2018 FIFA u-20 world cup group A fixtures despite playing the host nations in the opening game of the tournament on August 5th, 2018. The Black Princesses have been drawn in a tough group A with host nation France, Netherlands and New Zealand. ”Yes it’s very difficult because playing your first game against host nation France who are a very good team and this tournament is different from playing qualifiers playing within Africa,” she observed. “World Cup is a very difficult and you need to keep your composure because you can go on the field and see other country warm up and will panic and even forget what you came to do, so world cup is not easy at all’’ Janet told TV3 sports. Now with the senior team the Black Queens, the former black princesses’ striker, Ayeyam who represented Ghana twice in the U-20 women world cup in 2012 and 2014 is confident the new team led by Captain Priscilla Adubea and Coach Yusif Basigi can break through the group stage. ”I know the Princesses can do it. Many people think when we go we cannot do it or we cannot do what other country do, but me I believe in the team and the coach leading the them because I have work with him before and I know what he can do with the team. “All the girls need to do is to work and train very hard. They should also be discipline on the field and off the field and listen to their coach Yusif Basigi and they will seal through,’’ she advised. The black Princesses will be called to camp soon to start their preparation toward the world cup in France. Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Pious Hadzide has said the Ministry and the Ghana football Association will lay down some international friendlies for the team to get them ready for the tournament.
