A family of three including a BECE candidate were burnt to death after fire gutted their Santasi apartment in the Kumasi metropolis.
The fire started around 1:00am Friday, TV3’s William Evans-Nkum gathered from an eyewitness.
The 17 year old candidate was expected to write her final papers today in the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examinations.
Her name was only given as Lydia.
Even though the Ghana National Fire Service rushed to the scene, the family who were trapped died before the raging fire was quenched.
The cause of the fire has not been established yet.
It is exactly two weeks ago when similar disaster struck a family at Asante Mampong killing seven people.
Philip is an eyewitness. He told TV3 when residents saw the fire at dawn, they shouted at occupants in the apartment to come out.
Because there were a lot of people outside, they thought everybody had left the apartment, unfortunately after the fire service brought the fire under control, the charred bodies were found inside.
Personnel of the Ghana Police Service came for the bodies Friday morning, the eyewitness said.
