2017 RTP Mid-morning Show Host of the Year, Miriam Osei Agyemang has called on Africans in the diaspora to commit to supporting rural education in Ghana.
The award winner and host of 3FM 92.7 Urban Blend show made the call while speaking at the 7th African Youth Education Awards in Hamburg, Germany. The annual event organized by Top Afric is a youth empowerment initiative to promote educational achievement in the African community in Germany.
Miriam who is also the co-founder of the Readbook Lib. Gh, shared with the audience at the historic building of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce some of the activities her social enterprise is engaged in to ensure that children in rural Ghana have access to useful learning materials to bring them at par with their colleagues in the city.
Founded just over a year ago, Readbook Lib Gh, with support from the Ghana Association of Writers, the Ghana Library Authority, Indomie Noodles, TV 3, 3FM 92.7, Aabok Publications have reached out to more than 500 pupils in Manya Jorpanya Basic School and Kordiabe RC basic school with learning aids and educations programs to challenge them intellectually.
Miriam beat stiff competition from Kofi KUM-Bilson – Peace FM, Doreen Andoh – Joy Fm, Kofi Otchere Darko (KOD) – Star FM and Alex Ayensu Baah (Okyeame) – Radio Gold to win this year’s Radio and Television Personality Radio Mid-morning Show of the Year awards.
