Queens to play Nigeria in WAFU Cup semis

The Black Queens have been handed a semi-final clash with Nigeria’s Super Falcons in the ongoing WAFU Women’s Cup.

The Falcons beat Togo 3-1 in their final group game on Monday to set up a date with their arch-rivals.

The Queens had booked a semi-final place on Sunday after a 4-1 win over Burkina Faso on Sunday, placing second in Group A.

The Ghana-Nigeria clash will be played on Thursday.

The last meeting between the two sides ended 1-1, at the 2016 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons are the current African champions

It will be the second semi-final game at the tournament after Group A winners Cote d’Ivoire and Mali slug it out on Wednesday for a place in the finals.

The WAFU Women’s Cup has been put together as a preparatory tournament for the 2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations to be held later in Ghana.
