A vote of no confidence in three members of the Committee is said to have taken place at the party’s headquarters on Saturday. This was at a meeting ostensibly called to discuss the recent position of Ambassador-At-Large for party leader Dr Edward Nasigre Mahama. But the vote saw National Chairman Bernard Mornah and Dr Mahama sailing through, only to have Mr Mohammed  as the only executive to get ousted. He received 6 ‘Yes’ votes and 16 ‘No’ votes to get suspended indefinitely. ‘Comedian Dr Mahama’ There was no clarity to the situation as Mr Mohammed denied being suspended a few moments later on his Facebook page. Later on TV3’s News @10, he said the NEC has no locus to suspend him as “I was duly elected at congress and I was voted for”. He said an assessment on the performance of the party, and for that matter any executive, can only be done at congress. In any case, he explained, Saturday’s meeting was called to discuss the acceptance of the ambassadorial role accepted by Dr Mahama and so a change in the agenda resulted in him leaving the meeting, only to hear later in the media that he has been suspended. “It is a political joke,” he stressed. “It is unfortunate Dr Mahama who is the comedian made the political joke.” He said no one has officially called him to communicate any suspension to him and, so, he still holds his position.
