President John Dramani Mahama does not have the moral authority and desire to fight corruption, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s policy advisor has claimed.
According to Boakye Agyarko, while he was a vice president, Mr Mahama was subject of a graft investigation initiated by the late President John Atta Mills.
The 2012 New Patriotic Party Campaign Manager therefore says it will be difficult for President Mahama to fight the corruption.
Mr Agyarko stated these on Monday, September 19, when he addressed the media on the manifesto of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He spoke on the theme: ‘NDC: Promises Made, Promises Broken’.
Mr Boakye Agyarko stressed that “President Mahama can never fight corruption if even he is forced to”.
He added when it comes to corruption it is “see no wrong, hear no wrong and speak no wrong” for President Mahama.
“The presidency is a vehicle for amassing wealth for family and friends rather than looking after the welfare of the masses.”
He opined that “if this has been his attitude in his first full term in office, what then will be his action if reelected for his last and final term. What will then restrain President John Mahama and his family of corrupt cronies in his last term from pillaging the national coffers.”
He bemoaned that the current government has no money to fund all the promises it has made as corruption has eaten deep into the national coffers.
“In short, Ghana is broke. There is also evidence that John Mahama if reelected will not have the credibility, competence, integrity and innovative idea to fix it.”
Mr Boakye Agyarko called on Ghanaians to vote for the NPP to fix the problems just like it did in 2001.
