George Kweku Rickets Hagan[/caption] The Member of Parliament for Cape Coast South, George Kweku Rickets Hagan says it took him one whole year to finally conclude to contest the NDC presidential primary. His trump card would be his ability to preside over a balanced governance system where development would be equitable, he said. He told Bright Asempa on Onua FM’s Yen Nsempa on Thursday, that what Ghana lacks currently is a leader who will adequately address the imbalance in the system, something successive governments have failed to do. You can have one administration focused on infrastructure while people go hungry; likewise, others busy themselves with social interventions, and abandon infrastructural development, he assessed. Rickets Hagan whose decision appears to have shocked many said Ghana needs a candidate who will marry both infrastructure and social interventions to speed up Ghana’s development. “Running a country is a balancing act and perhaps we did not get the balance right,” he asserted. The former Central Regional Minister has since Wednesday written to all members of the Minority in Parliament, declaring his intention to lead the largest opposition party in the country. The Cape Coast South MP admitted that some officials of the NDC indulged in corrupt act when the party was in government, but would not mention names. Mr. Hagan said under his presidency, corruption which largely accounted for the defeat of the NDC will end. He noted that he is among the few who entered into politics to serve. Mr. Rickets Hagan who worked at the Finance and Trade Ministries as a deputy minister would not answer whether he will go ahead with his ambition if former president Mahama would contest.
