Seat of government, the Flagstaff House[/caption] Former Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry in the Mahama-led administration has explained that if the integrity of the Electoral Commission (EC) has been destroyed as a result of the alleged rot currently pending, then the integrity of the seat of government, the Flagstaff House, has also been destroyed. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed said “the integrity of the seat of government is completely destroyed if you say the EC integrity is destroyed because we have a president whose inaugural speech was plagiarized” and that also constitute destruction of integrity. [caption id="attachment_38933" align="aligncenter" width="564"] Prez. Akufo Addo giving his inaugural speech at the Swearing In on January 7, 2017[/caption] The former National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Member of Parliament for the Nantong constituency in the Northern Region was contributing to a discussion on TV3’s New Day on Tuesday hosted by Bright Nana Amfoh. A petition by some concern workers of the EC has triggered several revelations at the EC which have attracted reactions from the EC Boss, Mrs. Challote Osei and her two deputies, Georgina Amankwaa and Amadu Sulley. Civil society organizations have also jumped into the revelations and have called for the probe of these allegations since it has marred the integrity of the EC. Murtala Mohammed said “the Constitution is very clear on what the President should do. He should refer it to the CJ to determine if there is a Prima facie against her [EC boss] upon which investigations can commence or not, the CJ will decide whether there should be investigations or not”. He said, “the NPP never liked the appointment of the EC boss because she was appointed by former President Mahama and that those who made the allegations against the woman were faceless. He further added that there are three sides to every story, your side, my side and the truth”. “I am surprised the NPP is pretending not knowing anything about the allegations”, the former Deputy Communications Minister added. The NPP National Nasara Coordinator, Kamal-Deen Abdulai said, “we should be worried as Ghanaians or if you are not even a Ghanaian but domicile in Ghana, you should be worried about what is happening at the EC”. A body like the EC, which is supposed to be neutral and independent, today you come out with these allegations. Pointing out to questionable contracts. I am disappointed as I sit today, totally disappointed and this call for the probe is important”. He said, “the speaker of Parliament, leadership of Parliament, both minority and majority, must look into the matter because allegations of vote rigging have appeared and you think the integrity will not be compromised?” Kamal-Deen said “some people who were supposed to be NPP were transferred and you think the integrity of the body is not questionable? It is. It is a complete mess and we should not encourage it”. By Kweku Antwi-Otoo|Onua 95.1FM|3news.com|Ghana]]>
